The top prize money of the day is on offer in the staying handicap hurdle at Warwick, where there are question marks against a few of the runners. Driftwood Haze registered his best Racing Post Rating last time out – highly unusual for an 11-y-o. He battled all the way to the line and would have won in another stride or two. He looks good value here at 9/1.
I’m splitting stakes and having the other half on the 20/1 chance Sir Will, another who racked up his best Racing Post Rating last time out although he is 3 years younger than Driftwood Haze. That run was at the end of last season so he has the longish absence to overcome (during which he had a wind op). He’d prefer the ground a wee bit softer but that’s factored into his price.
