Lady Shanawell ought to be no more than 10/1 in my view for the 2.30 at Wetherby. She’s won in two of her last three completions, pulled up in the other through the misfortune of a slipping saddle. Mixed in with those was a decent 3rd on the all-weather despite some bad luck in running again. She’s a game mare who is fit and consistent. She was perhaps fortunate last time when the leader Zeb Spirit came down three out, but she wasn’t 28 betting points worth of fortunate. Zeb Spirit is just a 5/1 chance today in this race where they meet on the same terms as last time.
33/1 is widely available to 3 places and I make her the first 3* bet of the season each way.

Well, the SP was closer to what I thought it should be (14/1) and she finished a long way in front of Zeb Spirit, but, sadly, 5 others were ahead of her at the line. She travelled well until coming under pressure turning in. She kept on but in the end was outclassed. The principals here might well go on to much better things.
