Highly competitive as ever, but you have a chance of getting a wee profit betting EW with Skybet who offer 7 places.
It hasn’t been a great race for Willie Mullins, but he won it last year with Burrows Saint and fields 5 today.
I think Agusta Gold has the best chance of his, though I’m also putting Robin De Carlow on this shortlist. He’s the mount of Rachael Blackmore.
Run Wild Fred is next on the list. He had an entry in and was very well fancied for the NH Chase after running a fine 2nd to today’s favourite Coko Beach. He’s a guaranteed stayer.
Mrs Harrington’s Discordantly has been running well all season. He was 6th in The Ultima at the Festival last time. All of his from is on soft ground, and he will not get that today; I believe this might account for his big price. But he’s worth risking as established soft ground horses are often branded that because of their liking for stamina tests rather than the going. At 33/1 I’m happy to pay to find out if Discordantly is one of them. The trainer won the race in 2017 with Our Duke.
Biggest leap of faith in stamina prize must go to connections of Off You Go, who’s been campaigned at around 20 furlongs. Today’s race is over a mile farther than he has run, which was 2m5f last time out, when he stayed on to win a good 22-runner handicap chase at Leopardstown. He has a classic improvers profile over fences with Racing Post Ratings of 111-124-138-140-141-146-152. He is the choice of Mark Walsh, JP’s jockey, from 6 runners. This horse moved from Charles Byrnes to RP Burns after Byrnes’s license was suspended. This is his first run for the yard.
I’ve backed all of these EW. If you want a shorter list, I’d recommend Agusta Gold and Off You Go.
Good luck. Take it easy on stakes. £1EW will give you as much fun as £100EW, and much less stress.
All the best
