This evening I started going through the National runners intending to blog on Friday. But one has jumped out as excellent value – Fagan. He was promising as a youngster with Gordon Elliott and started favourite for the 2018 Scottish Grand National, where he was pulled up with, I assume, whatever ailment then kept him off the track for almost two years.
Fagan has resumed his career with Alex Hales, not well known, but a very good trainer. Fagan returned to form in December after three runs with Hales; he was 3rd at Ludlow, staying on nicely. He then won very well at Newbury in January showing his usual neat, athletic jumping style and looking very much to be enjoying himself. As I write he can be backed win only on the Betfair Exchange at more than 300/1. If you have an exchange account I suggest he’s worth a fiver at that price. He needs 5 to come out, but that’s possible and your money is returned on the Betfair Exchange if he is ballotted out.
With the main bookies, he can be backed EW at 100/1 to 5 places and at 66/1 to 6 places (Skybet).
More on Friday
Good luck
Joe
