My only real fancy today is Shan Blue in the 2.50. In going and track he has what ought to be his perfect conditions. He’s won 3 on the trot over fences and has excuses for his two defeats, the first at Sandown where he was second, the ground was very deep; and at Cheltenham Harry Skelton had one of his occasional brain farts in trying to dash for home a long, long way out. Shan Blue will show how good he is today one way or another, because he ought to go around this track on rails. If his jumping is of its usual standard he has a chance that seriously outweighs his price of 15/2.
In the 1.45, I’m tipping Edwardstone for about the third time on this blog. I love this horse and going up in trip should make the difference between winning and running another gallant race.
I’ll back him up with Amarillo Sky, who has been raised 13lbs for a comfortable Wincanton win last time. This ground will suit him as will the step up in trip.
My selections in the other races, in the order I fancy them:
2.20 Ajero: For Pleasure
3.25 Dashel Drasher: Fakir D’Oudaries
4.05 Visioman: Senior Citizen: Realm Keeper
4.40 Cape Gentleman: Midnight River: Sizable Sam
5.15 Leoncavallo: Wild Max: Camprond.
Skybet again offer extended places, giving you a chance of a decent win for small stakes in perms, or still getting a profit without a winner.
They offer 7 places in the 1.45 and the 4.05. You could, for example take 2 in the 1.45 and 3 in the 4.05 and perm them in EW doubles: 3×2= 6 bets, 12 if you go EW which I strongly recommend you do.
In the 5.05 6 places are offered, so you could, for say 5p stakes, have a permed EW treble with the two races above: 3 selections in the 5.05 would make the bet 3x2x3 = 18 trebles at 5pEW.
Whatever you choose, enjoy the racing. Go easy on stakes to save turning the fun into stress.
All the best.
