    1. Not too shabby a return – next month’s holiday in Dales and visit to the Ascot of North (Catterick) paid for Robicheaux (hope I’m on the same wavelength as you as I’ve got a Dock and Bait shop T-shirt, Big Mon, if not, that won’t make much sense to anybody). Anyway onto today’s darts. 1st race – Balding has been doing me a favour this week and his Masekela looks like the one to be on (am expecting horses with proven soft/heavy form or breeding to be the way today whilst I was not so prescriptive yesterday). 3.05 – One who fits the bill at a tempting 14/1 is Light Refrain (think the Haydock form with Rohaan is strong), 3.40 Have no real thoughts of my own, Greg’s selection Broome will do for me in the absence of anything else (see Talking Horses); 4.20 quite keen on Glenshiel for the usual reasons, must be in frame, surely?; 5.00 Pendleton is another who, draw permitting, looks to have a lot in his favour; 5.35 King Frankel looks tailor made for the step up in trip; 6.10 stamina an obvious concern but Morando (and Balding) could leave us smiling. Obvioiusly I probably used up all my luck yesterday so logic should dictate you ignore any of the above selections. Remember it’s only rock and roll, stay copacetic.

      1. Extraordinary set of “throw away” selections, nearly all of which hit bull’s eye at the “darts” as you term it. I doubt that your performance will ever be repeated, Mickle. The stuff of legend.

      2. Same wavelength Noble Mon. Though I feel its time James Lee Burke pensioned him off๐Ÿ™‚.
Good to hear about your winnings. Tough as usual today.
I like Vadream ew in the Jersey. Best of luck !

  1. I managed to get 3 up yesterday Alenquer, Dragon Symbol and then rode Mickle’s coat tails on Significantly and then undid a good days work by steaming in on the bookings for England v Scotland. C’est la gare.

    1. Well done, It’s “C’est la Guerre”. “it’s the war”. “La Gare” is the station. If I am ruining a complicated pun, apologies, I often don’t get them.

      1. No complicated pun ruined. Just my lack of French shining through. Should”ve paid more attention in class although in my defence my French teacher has a worse cockney accent than I have and I’m sure quite a lot was lost in translation ๐Ÿ˜…

  2. The one I do like today at Ascot is Falcon Eight. But the money goes on an away day:-
Ripon 3.00 Cruyff Turn; Newmarket 3.20 Baaeed. Down Royal 4.00 Martinique.

  3. Jessie has two, both seemed too big, so EW bets:
305 Ace Aussie stiff 7f to favour
500 Indigo Balance drop in grade

  4. The most successful betting day I’ve ever had on the Flat (not saying much) was last year’s Champion’s Day, picking out long-odds E/W shots with bits and pieces of soft/heavy form in the races paying extra places. On that basis, and not really in the spirit of serious tips, I’ve gone for these at tiny stakes in multiples:

    15:05 Fast Raaj
    16:20 Happy Power
    17:00 Air Raid
    17:35 Pythagoras
    18:10 Green Book

  5. Yet further evidence of the Guardian putting Horse Racing out to pasture; there is no Racing appearing for on the Sports page at all, and even Greg’s tips didn’t appear for me on the racing page!
Good luck all for final day of Ascot.

    1. Not sure where you are looking. The Graun had three lots of racing comments open this morning, but no commentators.
