Hitlist catch up from Friday – Mickle on the board with Wise Eagle 3/1: a. double for Dirty Northerner with Triple Time and Pagan. Yesterday brought winning naps for David – Dancing Harry, and The Steelman Forest Tales, advised at 9/2 suffered a 35p Rule 4. Well done all for keeping the engine turning. At the time of writing, we are awaiting one or two results, so there might yet be more for the Hitlist.
The blog’s nap didn’t place, yet again, and Popmaster’s 5th place was one short of the EW accumulator paying out. I’m taking a break from the perms for today, but the blog’s nap is Howzer Black at 20/1 in the 6.15 Haydock.
As ever, please leave your naps/tips by making a comment below. All welcome, especially newcomers; just enter a name when asked so we know who is who. No prizes, but it’s good fun here among some seasoned punters, most of whom spent years commenting at the Guardian on the original Talking Horses forum, which has now been heavily cut back.
If you tip a winner, please use the Winners thread to highlight your result and we’ll put you on the Hitlist next day. There is a Winners thread for each month.
We also have a Lounge thread for general chat, though as a forum we are a bit limited to what WordPress, our host here, provides as far as structure goes.
Thanks for looking in. Good luck with your bets today, but please bear in mind that this is meant to be ‘fun’. There are many wise heads posting tips here and we haven’t yet gone a day without somebody tipping a winner. But never bet more than you can afford to lose. Small stakes can still produce wide smiles.
All the best
Joe
It’s a good day’s racing. At the Curragh CONCERT HALL 15/8,LIGHT REFRAIN 3/1 and GO BEARS GO 2/1 at 1.55, 3.05 and4.10 respectively. Then CAMPANELLE 11/4 and VALLORIA 6/4 at Deauville 2.50 and 3.25.
However, the nap is the EW saver, the admirably consistent and gutsy MARIANAFOOT 12/1 to run CAMPANELLE very close.

Cracking bet in France DN – the French seem to be showing the Uk sprinters how it’s done. On soft ground anyways …

Thanks all. It could be the MAROIS next up against PALACE PIER. One to watch and savour – no bet.

Nap. Cowboy Justice. Curragh 1.25.
A brave man to back an Aiden horse at the moment. His record in the Phoenix can’t be overlooked though. Curragh 4.10. Prettiest ew.
Conditions turn attrition. I’ll back Brando ew. Deauville 2.50.
Good luck all !

Alan – a wonderful bet! I’d be very interested to hear what the selections were, as this is my kind of bet.

Can’t remember the selections…but the tips came from a comments section on the william hill site a young lady whos moniker was “S J Ayr” …she was very good and I do believe that she went on to buy a new Range Rover from her winnings…obviously staking far more than I could..Shortly afterwards WH stopping people leaving tips on their site and i sadly couldn’t find her again…… bugger. This was about 6/7 years ago.

Hi Alan, I remember seeing the same comment. I used to bet with WH when they had the tipping section but stopped when they ended it.

But they certainly did have tips on WH as MrsQDB used to do tips on it. I still use WH.

If you backed Ballydoyle off a level 1 euro stake in the last 100 rides you would be down 99 euros. I know there are websites that say different but I trust my analogue wallet. Are you calling me a liar?
Very strange line-up in the Phoenix Stakes today with 4 Fillies left in until the final declaration stage and RM still on one of them. I don’t know what that is about.
I am going to have a place bet on Thunder Moon in the G1 Prix Maurice De Gheest at 14.10.
It is unlikely that a child of Zoffany can win a 2nd G1 at this unusual Deauville summer programme but 14/1 screams place to me and that is my nap.

Nap today is Micromoon at the Curragh. Very encouraging debut and wont need to step up much to take the third race

Good Stuff, elgransenor. I like the analogue wallet particulary. Beats the 1’s and 0’s of computers anyday. We are “lost in France” now for some time, so Deauville seems like a runner to me. Unfortunately, the weeds are more or less up to the roof after 18 months of freedom, so very little time for betting… aftertiming, but I returned to my old Guardian nap Just Hubert yesterday which found a way of keeping his nose in front to the line.

Very true, Egs. There are certainly some enormous brown slugs which have found paradise under the canopy of decaying foliage. All soft fruit such as plums, apples, pears, etc , were devastated by a late hard frost and rain which froze on the blossoms. I managed a winner at the Curragh today, No More Porter, but I suspect I shall need some to cope with the garden labouring job. (Just noticed that Steelman tipped it here).
