Talking Horses Friday September 3rd 2021

Bacciodilupo is back on the Hitlist napping SISTER LOLA , advised at 9/4, wins at SP 11/4, and also tipping Shouldering EW at 16/1 – finished 3rd at 18/1. Well done Bacciodilupo.

Rakib also landed his nap yet again – Stour which won at 7/4 (advised at 2s). Nice work, Rakib.

The blog’s nap was 2nd last.

If I’ve missed anyone, please give me a shout via the September Winners thread.

As ever, please leave your naps/tips by making a comment below. All welcome, especially newcomers; just enter a name when asked so we know who is who. No prizes, but it’s good fun here among some seasoned punters, most of whom spent years commenting at The Guardian on the original Talking Horses forum, which has now been heavily cut back.

If you tip a winner, please use the Winners thread to highlight your result and we’ll put you on the Hitlist next day. There is a Winners Thread for each month.

What This Blog Is For

As mentioned above this long-running Steeplechasing blog was adapted in a hurry when The Guardian announced they were cutting back on their (usually) daily Talking Horses section. Many punters had gathered there over the years to exchange ideas and fancies. Part of the adapting we had to do at the start of this blog was restricting this daily main article to tips/naps, while we found our feet regarding house rules, moderation and stuff like that.

We are now in a position to open this main daily article to all subjects. It can be very enjoyable when something is latched onto by our knowledgeable, quick-witted posters as they indulge in wordplay and jousting. We still want tips of course, from those who want to tip. It’s by no means an obligation.

If you do post a tip/nap, just include it with whatever subject you are discussing, preferably at the foot of your post. So long as you remember to come back after a winner and put the details of that win in the monthly Winners Thread, then we can include you on the Hitlist in the next day’s main article.

General guidance: No swearing, please. We’re not prudes, it’s just that there is wide scope in the swearword lexicon and we do not have moderators (and hope we’ll never need them). Also, please keep discussions on politics and religion to The Lounge section, though brief references to these subjects in the main article are not forbidden.

Thanks for looking in. If you are betting, especially if you follow our tipsters, good luck with your bets, but please bear in mind that this is meant to be ‘fun’. There are many wise heads posting tips here and we haven’t yet gone a day without somebody tipping a winner. But never bet more than you can afford to lose. Small stakes can still produce wide smiles.

All the best
Joe

  2. No luck yesterday – there goes the family allowance!

Just a couple today – Mitrosonfire (2.30 Haydock) and Sunset Memory (6.15 Kempton) – two win singles and a double.

    Good luck to everyone

  3. No jumps today so i’m going to go for an adrelanie packed ten minutes to perk up my afternoon where i’ll be following Limarty Dreams newc 14.45 (5 to 1) and Amor de Mi Vida ( Hay, 2.55, 10s with hollie doyle to assist). For the purposes of form the first can the nap and i’ll doubtless have a small stakes double. Prob EW.

  4. Not the most inspiring racing today I see Dha Leath is running again in the 6.22 Down Royal.. 9/2 he’s the EW nap, dropped a few lbs from when i tipped him last week. Doesn’t look a more difficult race. Nb : Nibras Shadow 3.50 Newcastle. 5/2. In form and the stable is too, runs in the ‘Zain Claudette’ colours for Ismail Mohammed.

  5. Just noticed that David as also Ew napped Amor de Mi Vida …so to make it a little more interesting I will change my EW Nap to Global Humor in the same race 8/1….good luck ..

  6. Fewer than 100 horses in 14 races at Ascot and Haydock begs some serious questions, which we’ve discussed oft times in the past.
Haydock holds many happy memories – things improved at almost each meeting since Night Nurse stuffed Wayward Lad with some wonderfully profitable days and evenings (ignoring the social attitudes if some young racegoers). So we’re going for Edraak in the 2.20.

    1. Aargh i thought someone had already napped it, but that must have been on a different day! Lots of horses being turned out again quickly it seems…

  7. Today’s Nap Is LIAMARTY DREAMS, 2.45 Newcastle…11/2 or so, PLJ takes 5 lbs off his back.

The NB is a real long shot, FIELD OF DREAMS, EW, 4.05 Kilbeggan, 28/1 or so. Maybe Bryan Cooper can work his magic on this lad for Sneezy! Strangers things have happened..,

    1. if you nap it – they will come. My wife loaned me that movie on video on our first cinema date – (The silence of the lambs, romance eh). Corny fun.

      1. Has to be Cornsay’s favourite film. Personally, the phrase ‘deja vu all over again’ from Fight Club (a much more genuinely romantic film imho..) came to mind today seeing certain horseys crop up…

  8. 2 for today after I’ve had a good look. Both EW and the EW double.

    Pont 7.00 – Deny Knowlege 6-1
    (5 place) NAP
    Ascot 4.45 – Northern express 6-1
    (3 place) NB

Both look to have a good chance. Firstly Nap is lightly raced and ran better than first glance at Carlisle.
NB need Frank to do me a hold up special. Ascot good track for these tactics.

  9. I was looking at MULGRAVE in the 6.22 Down Royal….last 3 runs over 5/6 f, stepping up to 1m 2f, the market does not like him, a drifter to 33/1, could be an EW small wager!! ( my tipping today could not get any worse so…).
