Talking Horses Wednesday October 13th 2021

Mickle looks right back in form with 4/1 winner Able Kane. Nice work. And David’s remarkable October continues with yet another winning nap in Rainbow Muice, advised at 4/1 (SP 10/3). For good measure David scored with his NB Achy Breaky Heart advised at 2/1 (SP 6/4). David, that’s your 9th winning selection this month and your 7th winning nap. I don’t use the word remarkable lightly, and I’m sure others here will agree. Very well done.

Rakib’s EW NB La Hulotte was placed at 9/1 having been advised at 13/2. Still bubbling along nicely on the Hitlist, Rakib.

If I’ve missed anyone, please give me a shout via the Winners thread.

The blog’s nap Able Kane, advised at 11/2 BOG won at 4/1. Wednesday’s nap is Prince Of Harts in the 3.15 Nottingham at 8/1 BOG.

As ever, please leave your naps/tips by making a comment below. All welcome, especially newcomers; just enter a name when asked so we know who is who. No prizes, but it’s good fun here among some seasoned punters, most of whom spent years commenting at The Guardian on the original Talking Horses forum, which has now been heavily cut back.

If you tip a winner, please use the Winners thread to highlight your result and we’ll put you on the Hitlist next day.

What This Blog Is For

As mentioned above this long-running Steeplechasing blog was adapted in a hurry when The Guardian announced they were cutting back on their (usually) daily Talking Horses section. Many punters had gathered there over the years to exchange ideas and fancies. Part of the adapting we had to do at the start of this blog was restricting this daily main article to tips/naps, while we found our feet regarding house rules, moderation and stuff like that.

We are now in a position to open this main daily article to all subjects. It can be very enjoyable when something is latched onto by our knowledgeable, quick-witted posters as they indulge in wordplay and jousting. We still want tips of course, from those who want to tip. It’s by no means an obligation.

If you do post a tip/nap, just include it with whatever subject you are discussing, preferably at the foot of your post. So long as you remember to come back after a winner and put the details of that win in the monthly Winners Thread, then we can include you on the Hitlist in the next day’s main article.

General guidance: No swearing, please. We’re not prudes, it’s just that there is wide scope in the swearword lexicon and we do not have moderators (and hope we’ll never need them). Also, please keep discussions on politics and religion to The Lounge section, though brief references to these subjects in the main article are not forbidden.

Thanks for looking in. If you are betting, especially if you follow our tipsters, good luck with your bets, but please bear in mind that this is meant to be ‘fun’. There are many wise heads posting tips here and we haven’t yet gone a day without somebody tipping a winner. But never bet more than you can afford to lose. Small stakes can still produce wide smiles.

All the best

  1. I am not sure NH Racing needs to be this competitive this early but will take Galvin at 11/10 in the 16.05 at Punchestown as my nap.

  2. My time in the mob I spent as part of The Fleet Air Arm so todays nap has to be Flight Deck 15:58 Wetherby….Well done Joe, Mickle, David and Rakib…like to put bloggers tips in a small Canadian and had a small return today…Cheers

    1. Thanks but David is kind of our Admiral at the moment ..all hail… I’m going to fire out of the portside (or something) with Ena Baie, 7/1 -Punchestown 2.20- in the McManus silks. Has a bit of course form which is always handy. That’s the nb. The nap is Embittered for JPoB and Team Ryanair in the Grade 3 chase at 3.30, 5/4. Looks to be better off at the weights but it might still be a tight race.

  3. Worth noting that Joes’ naps have been coming in well of late too – that’s 3 out of 5 recently I think.

I’m sure i’ll be back on Ship Sentry Duty soon but here’s a couple of hopefully improvers for today

Road Warririor in the Wetherby 3.23 ( 6-1) can be the nap, on a 4 timer up in grade. True icon Bath 3.05 ( 11/4) a backup NB.

    Good luck all.

  4. Bit late to be napping em, but I do have soft spot for all the Teescomponents family, and Teescomponents Lad is a tempting 5/1 in the 15:58 at Wetherby.

    1. Probably the solid option, Monsieur Cornsay. There’s a rather ‘digital’ look to the favourite First Flight’s form figures…
