Alan remains in excellent form landing his nap Coach Rambler at 5/2. Well done.
The Steelman is coming with an impressive late October Hitlist run landing his nap Lady Excalibur advised 7/2 BOG – SP 5/1. The Steelman landed a second winner with Getareason advised at 5/1 BOG: SP 6/1 – for a nice 41/1 double. Nice work, Steelman.
If I’ve missed anyone, please give me a shout via the Winners thread.
The blog’s nap Boreham Bill drifted like a Man Utd defence, starting at 25s, but ran a fine race despite finishing unplaced. Monday’s nap is National League in the 4.00 Leicester at 9/2 BOG.
As ever, please leave your naps/tips by making a comment below. All welcome, especially newcomers; just enter a name when asked so we know who is who. No prizes, but it’s good fun here among some seasoned punters, most of whom spent years commenting at The Guardian on the original Talking Horses forum, which has now been heavily cut back.
If you tip a winner, please use the Winners thread to highlight your result and we’ll put you on the Hitlist next day. There is a Winners Thread for each month.
What This Blog Is For
As mentioned above this long-running Steeplechasing blog was adapted in a hurry when The Guardian announced they were cutting back on their (usually) daily Talking Horses section. Many punters had gathered there over the years to exchange ideas and fancies. Part of the adapting we had to do at the start of this blog was restricting this daily main article to tips/naps, while we found our feet regarding house rules, moderation and stuff like that.
We are now in a position to open this main daily article to all subjects. It can be very enjoyable when something is latched onto by our knowledgeable, quick-witted posters as they indulge in wordplay and jousting. We still want tips of course, from those who want to tip. It’s by no means an obligation.
If you do post a tip/nap, just include it with whatever subject you are discussing, preferably at the foot of your post. So long as you remember to come back after a winner and put the details of that win in the monthly Winners Thread, then we can include you on the Hitlist in the next day’s main article.
General guidance: No swearing, please. We’re not prudes, it’s just that there is wide scope in the swearword lexicon and we do not have moderators (and hope we’ll never need them). Also, please keep discussions on politics and religion to The Lounge section, though brief references to these subjects in the main article are not forbidden.
Thanks for looking in. If you are betting, especially if you follow our tipsters, good luck with your bets, but please bear in mind that this is meant to be ‘fun’. There are many wise heads posting tips here and we haven’t yet gone a day without somebody tipping a winner. But never bet more than you can afford to lose. Small stakes can still produce wide smiles.
All the best

Nap: Eklat de Rire, 5/6, 3
30 Wexford. Last seen trying to reel in a (now sadly out of action) Monkfish at Cheltenham, reappears with a much easier task.
NB Forever Forward Evs. 3.15 Redcar. Not much value but that’s about 5/2 for a double which could afford you a sip some of Alan’s Bollingerandkrug which looks tasty at a similar price….🍾

Tasty!
Mixing 2 vintage Champagnes with competing tastes in a Cocktail is something the scriptwriters at TOWIE haven’t stooped low enough to consider. Why not add a pint of Guinness to make a Black Velvet?
Or 5L of Port for a Dilton Special?

The horse’s chances are tastier than that ‘cocktail’ I suppose..perhaps we can be charitable and take that owner is rich enough to swig from two separate bottles as he pleases. I don’t watch ‘Towie’, apologies EGS. Is it good? 😏 Tbh I might ‘throw in the Towie’ if people keep being bitter and antagonistic though (perhaps like a Bollyandkrug cocktail?). It’s boooooring. Anyway, if anyone’s interested Marvel de Cerisy for the dream team of HDB and Rachael Blackmore. 15/8. is well backed against the previously heavy odds-on Rehabbed One’s favourite. Could be her first winner back before Eklat later on the card.

EGS, thank you for enlightening me to the joys of “TOWIE”. I had never heard of it previously and now I wish I’d never heard of it. Essex to me has always been a county you travel through to get to Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk not actually where you stop and meet the indigenous population.
I trust you stayed up late last night and watched my tip at Woodbine and finally realize what it takes to win a race, confirming the promise I noticed in his first race.
Rakib’s continuing great form should enable him to buy me a Jeroboam of either Bolly or Krug washed down by a liter of Port at Kempton Park later this year. But, knowing racecourse prices, I’ll be lucky to get a half of Guinness.

Jonathan,
You know the cliche of a stopped clock telling the correct time twice daily.
I have noticed you have backed 9 consecutive losers Stateside at start times of 22.44 with maybe a single 21.44 in between and finally your Clock chimed.

Harry noted Elliot as a trainer to avoid yesterday and the same goes for Mark J – his strike rate is 3% last two weeks – i cant recall it ever being that low. 3 wins out of 62. He’s a bit of a go to trainer for me usually but this hasn’t been his year – go through the card today no doubt now!
