EDIT: apologies the 2.30 should read the 1.55
No luck on Hogmanay, with two selections non. runners and the other fading from 3 out. Some cracking racing at Cheltenham on Sunday, though, and I’ve had a look through the staying chase and the 20f chase, both handicaps.
12.45
Tempting fate, I’ll say that the staying chase is a considerably easier puzzle, and I’ve gone for two in it, the first leg of an EW permed double taking advantage of Skybet’s generous extra places. I fancy Java Point and Rapper here, with slight preference for the former. They’re both around 8/1.
In the 2.30 – a real tough one to solve – I think Stolen Silver 10/1, Simply The Betts 14/1, and Jacamar 25/1 are the best EW value, in that order.
I’ll be doing permed EW doubles for £1 unit stake – total stake £12.
Skybet offer 5 places and 6 places respectively. Good luck and Happy New Year.
Joe
My usual warning. Anything I put up as a tip here is for ‘fun money’ – stakes you can afford to lose almost without even thinking about it. There’s just as much fun to be had with small stakes.
Post race edit: Rapper won, with Java Point 2nd. Stolen Silver was 2nd and Jacamar 6th, landing 4 place doubles returning £43.12, a profit of £31.12.
Season’s Profit/Loss to £5 stakes: +£16.12
Also backed StB at 18s 6 places at Hills. Ridiculous odds over C&D off this mark imo

An unusually disappointing run from him there. Paul. I think I’ll leave him alone now.
All the best.

Hi Joe
A very happy new year to you and yours and a brief thank you on my part for your analysis of the 12.45 at Cheltenham. I banged Rapper in a multiple and did a 2 quid forecast on your 2 which should hopefully cover expenses for the day!!
Hopefully an omen for the year!!
Take care Si
