Reading between the lines on Nicky Henderson’s forehead after Shishkin’s fine performance today, I strongly suspect he would love to run his star in the Gold Cup rather than the Ryanair, for which he is now hot favourite. When he cools down he might settle on the apparent easy route, but it will cost us very little to speculate in the NRNB markets, where Shishkin is 10/1.
If you have a fancy other than Shishkin in the Ryanair, I suggest you have an EW double along with Shishkin to win the Gold Cup. The worst you can be left with is an EW single.
I will back two or three in that manner in the coming days, but the one sticking out as best value now is Funambule Sivola, who was 2nd in the Queen Mother Champion Chase last year, and won well last time out at Newbury. If Shishkin does go for the Gold Cup, I’d be fairly confident Funambule Sivola will run in the Ryanair, rather than face top rivals in the Queen Mother Champion Chase. He is 20/1.
Good luck
My usual warning. Anything I put up as a tip here is for ‘fun money’ – stakes you can afford to lose almost without even thinking about it. There’s just as much fun to be had with small stakes.
Blog profit so far this season to £5 stakes is £94.
VW’s comment following Funambule Sivola’s win over 2m at Newbury was “ he’s the fastest thing I’ve ever had, it was very quick it was all speed.”
I appreciate he has a Ryanair entry but he has no form of note over the 20f and he’s not a punt for me in it, there is however a few quid up at 120/1 -140/1 on the Exchange win only lose stake if NR.
Relative to the 25/1 NRNB bookmakers this may be of some interest to others.
Good luck.

Thanks, Andy. Aye, on those prices he looks Queen Mother Champion Chase bound. Still, if he happens to turn up in the Ryanair, 25s won’t be available.
All the best.
