A cracking, competitive long distance chase at Cheltenham at 2.40 with 20 runners. The standouts for me are Max Dynamo and Valleres.
Max Dynamo is 13 years old, but didn’t start racing until he was 6. Trainer Emma Jane Bishop has had just two runners in the past 14 days; one finished 4th of 8, the other won, ridden by today’s claimer Harrison Beswick, who knows Max Dynamo well. The horse will be fine on this ground and looks good value EW to 6 places at 12/1 with Skybet. Small trainers like Emma often earn a bigger price on their horses due to the low profile.
Valleres is arguably a rare good ground runner for Venetia Williams but his best rating came on good ground. The yard is not firing with any gusto just now, but this relatively lightly raced horse should go well under his fine jockey Charlie Deutsch. He is 9/1 with Skybet, and I recommend backing both these horses EW to 6 places if you can get on – I know how bad some of these bookies are at times. But if you cannot get 6 places, most others go 5 places. I’ll be having a small dual forecast bet too, to £1, and will count the returns in this blog’s P&L.
Good luck all
Joe
My usual warning. Anything I put up as a tip here is for ‘fun money’ – stakes you can afford to lose almost without even thinking about it. There’s just as much fun to be had with small stakes.
P&L to £5 stakes this season shows a profit of £173
Hi Joe
Would you believe I have picked exactly the same horses on the same grounds.
Good luck to us.

Dual fcast would have landed, Simon, had they paid out on last and second last!
